Local Search still has a long way to go for Google

Here’s an interesting article saying what we always knew here at Tug. Google is struggling with Local Search as they have less than 10% of local information from Small & Medium Businesses. Unless Google has access to a local business address and their products and services from a digital source (such as a website) they are unable to serve relevant local results. This feeds into mobile search – as consumers using their mobile to search are more than likely looking for location based results. So until Google can nail local search, mobile search will continue to lag… Companies like Yellow pages have a decided advantage in this space as they already have a database of local services and addresses.
