Google has just released some interesting data on the rise of smartphone usage and the effect on mobile search:

- The number of global smartphone subscribers has grown by 72% in one year

- The number of people using their phone to search will rise to 900 million by 2011

- Mobile search ad revenue is set to reach over £500 million by 2011

- 1.6 Billion smartphone users are predicted by 2013

- Mobile marketing rose by 19% in teh second half of 2009

- 1 in 3 organisations are currently incorporating mobile into their overall ad strategies
