Bad news for Baidu in China
July
20th
There we were, thinking that China was treating Google harshly, to favour their Chinese based rivals, Baidu. Well how defensively Western of us!
Baidu has just been accused of linking searchers to 3 fake drug sites – duping over 3,000 Chinese to buy dangerous, fake drugs.
‘A source familiar with the situation told Reuters on Monday the sites exploited a loophole in the system, piggybacking on legitimate websites to gain access to buy keywords. The source could not be identified due to the sensitivity of the matter.’
In response Baidu has sacked a few people and overhauled their policies on drug advertising.
