Apple launches Music Social Network
September
3rd
This week Apple took aim at the Social Network space by launching ’Ping’, a social media service that works with iTunes and lets users follow musicians and friends.
‘Ping’ will be part of Apples next iTunes update and will allow users to follow friends, bands and musicians to see what music they are listening to and what gigs they are attending that week. The information with flash up on screen via a stream similar to that viewed on Facebook. Privacy settings will also be available to allow the user to choose who they want to allow to follow them.
The service can also be accessed via the iPhone and iPod Touch.
