301 redirect from WordPress.com

WordPress.com just announced that from now on users can easily create 301 redirects from a wordpress.com blog just by following a few steps.

This is a very important update because many people start their blogs using blogging platforms like wordpress.com, and when they want something more personalized, most people struggle redirecting all their loyal visitors and the link juice the new domain. With this new option it shouldn’t take them more than 2 minutes to switch from the WordPress blog to their new domain.

On the other hand, this could become a new link building strategy for black hat SEOs. Especially with authority sites like wordpress.com that often have high Page Rank, so a 301 redirect would pass all the authority and link juice from the wordpress.com blog  to the new domain.
