The Google blog has announced that they are currently working on/researching the ability to make Auto Drive Cars. It will be based on the same premise you have seen in the Hollywood Movies, “Minority Report” & “I-Robot”.

Apparently Google have developed technology for cars to be able to drive themselves. Google are aiming to make the roads safer and reduce accidents worldwide. Google have been testing their new technology for a while now and have already driven 140,000 miles with trained safety drivers who can override the system at any time.

The cars using this new technology are able to work using video cameras, radar sensors and a laser range finder to enable the car to “see” other traffic. As well as detailed road maps compiled from the Google database to navigate through the roads of the world. When asked when this technology would be available to us, Google had this to say: “While this project is very much in the experimental stage, it provides a glimpse of what transportation might look like in the future thanks to advanced computer science. And that future is very exciting.”

So there you have it, self driving cars are in the pipeline for the future… Is there anything Google can’t do?
