Firefox 4 destroys Internet Explorer 9 on its first day

The long-awaited Mozilla browser has recived on its first day millions of download requests for its latest version, surpassing by twice Internet Explorer’s number in its first 24 hours. The release of Firefox 4 has been delayed numerous times with the developers trying to release the new version as optimsed and bug-free as possible.

Mozilla released Firefox 4 to the expectations of many users who had been waiting for this update for a long time now. After numerous delays and beta versions the official website now allows users to download the final version of the browser, which supposedly includes major improvements.

Being available for less than 24 hours, Firefox 4 has long exceeded the amount of downloads that Internet Explorer 9 got on its first day. Microsoft’s browser obtained a turnover of approximately 2.35 million downloads, while the Mozilla Foundation already has 5 million … and the day ain’t over yet!

The new Mozilla browser, Firefox 4, could be available for download in its final version in just a few days given its advanced development. The update features hardware acceleration, among other improvements, which has led to many problems dalaying its launch.

Firefox 4 is one of the most anticipated updates from web browsers. For the many users who routinely use the browser from the Mozilla Foundation it is an important step after the main competitors: Internet Explorer and Google Chrome have already released their latest versions.

The possibility of downloading Firefox 4 in its final version could be a reality within a few days. February is the set date according to PCWorld, who tell us that the browser is “almost ready for launch”. Mozilla’s Damon Sicor has called for everybody to install the beta version of the browser to speed the release of its final version.

Mozilla Officialy Launch Firefox 3.6

Mozilla have announced the official release of the highly anticipated Firefox browser update of 3.6. The new release boasts a host of new features including Personas (single click theme updates), Form Complete (automatic form filler) and a number of performance updates. See below for a quote from Mozilla:

“Firefox 3.6 is more than 20 percent faster than Firefox 3.5 and includes extensive under the hood work to improve performance for everyday Web tasks such as email, uploading photos, social networking, and more. Mozilla, Explorer, Chrome or Safari?

With a fairly ample range of web browsers in the market, selecting the â€˜by-defaultâ€™ one turns out to be a nightmare; so here at Tug -search engine marketing, we have decided to list some pros and cons of the most important browsers. To bear in mind is the fact that Mozilla, Explorer and Chrome were tested on Windows, while only Safari and Mozilla were in Mac. IE and Chrome are beta versions and Chrome and Firefox are based on the Safari technology.

The fastest and lightest. When running on Microsoft Windows, undeniably Googleâ€™s Chrome is unbeatable; loading any page takes almost a third of the time than in IE 8 â€“which apparently uses more memory than the operating system itself- and almost half the time than in Firefox 3. On Mac, Safari is definitely faster but Google has not released the Mac version yet!

The most appealing. Googleâ€™s Chrome looks simpler than the rest and I like that; however I should point out that I have overloaded Explorer and Mozilla with toolbars and SEO add-ons and they now look quite messy, which may also affect the browsersâ€™ overall performances.

The most productive oriented. I would definitely stick to Mozilla as it has a rich list of add-ons and resources which are easily manageable, and apart from this, they work in both Windows and Mac! It is expected that most of these tools would be soon available for Chrome though.

From a developer perspective, having so many alternatives is a pain as one needs to test the pages on different platforms and browsers and incompatibilities always come up.

In the end, going for one or the other is just a matter of taste and any improvements on one or the other would soon implemented by the rest so the most beneficiated are final users!

Google To Launch Own Browser

Firefox fan? maybe you’ll like Google’s new browser called Google Chrome…

Â ”At Google, we have a saying: â€œlaunch early and iterate.â€ While this approach is usually limited to our engineers, it apparently applies to our mailroom as well! As you may have read in the blogosphere, we hit “send” a bit early on a comic book introducing our new open source browser, Google Chrome. As we believe in access to information for everyone, we’ve now made the comic publicly available — you can find it here. We will be launching the beta version of Google Chrome tomorrow in more than 100 countries.“

Firefox 3 Download Day Results

A few weeks ago you may remember a post informing you about Firefox’s download day. The aim of the day was to set a Guinness World Record for the most number of downloads for an application in 1 day. To do this they were aiming for 5 million downloads throughout the day, only 14 hours through the day they smashed their 5 million target. On Wednesday it will be announced as to wether they have achieved their World Record attempt. Read more here.

Firefox3 Download Day Announced

Firefox Plan to beat the World Record of most downloaded software in 24 hours. To do this Firefox are openly inviting people to add Firefox buttons and banners on their websites, to join a download day party (an example can be seen to your left.) Every person who joins is counted as a ‘Pledge’, at the time of writing this they already have 804,781. The Download Day date is yet to be confirmed but we’ll update you as soon as we know.
